Privacy Policy — Overtime Log
Last updated: October 18, 2026
Overtime Log — Hours & Pay ("the App") is developed by Alex Masure for iPhone and iPad. No App account is required. The developer has no server that collects your work or pay records.
1. Data You Enter
The App stores the jobs and employer names you enter, pay rates and overtime rules, shifts, breaks and notes, premiums and holidays, and payslip amounts and comparison notes. It also stores your settings and Pro purchase status. You choose what to enter; the App does not connect to your employer, payroll provider, or bank.
Pay calculations run on your device. The developer does not receive your work records or calculations automatically.
2. Local Storage and iCloud
Your records are stored on your device with Apple's SwiftData in an App Group container shared with the App's widget. The App tries to open an Apple CloudKit private database at launch, so records can sync through your personal iCloud account when iCloud is available. iCloud sync is included in the free version; it is not a separate App account. Apple manages that service. The developer cannot access your private iCloud records.
If the CloudKit store cannot open, the App tries the local store and shows its sync status. If the local store also fails, the App may run in temporary memory with a warning that new data may not persist. A successful launch does not guarantee that iCloud has finished syncing. Some preferences are also mirrored through Apple's iCloud key-value store.
In Settings, Delete All Data removes the records in the store currently open by the App. When the CloudKit store is active, those deletions are intended to sync through iCloud; a local-only fallback cannot remove an existing iCloud copy. Deleting the App removes its local data from that device but may leave copies in iCloud. You can manage iCloud copies through your Apple Account's iCloud settings. The developer cannot access or erase them for you.
3. Notifications, Widgets, and Live Activities
If you enable a clock-out reminder and grant permission, the App schedules a local notification on your device. It does not use a developer-operated push notification server.
On iPhone and iPad, widgets read the local App Group store to show shift information. A Live Activity can display an active shift on supported iPhone devices. This information may appear on your Home Screen or Lock Screen according to your device settings.
4. Purchases, Exports, and Feedback
Overtime Log Pro is an optional one-time, non-consumable purchase processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles payment and restoration; the developer does not receive your payment-card details. There is no subscription.
With Pro, you can generate PDF or CSV exports on your device. An export leaves the App only when you choose to share or save it through the system share sheet.
If you choose to send feedback, the App prepares a message for your mail app. It includes your text and app/device diagnostics; calculation details are included only if you select the separate option, which is off by default. Sending a message shares its contents with the mail providers and the developer. You can also choose not to send it.
5. Advertising and Tracking
The App contains no advertisements or third-party analytics or tracking SDKs. It does not use the advertising identifier or show an App Tracking Transparency prompt. Apart from Apple's iCloud and purchase services, it makes no developer-operated network requests; feedback is sent only when you initiate an email.
6. Changes and Contact
This policy may change as the App changes. The last updated date above will reflect revisions.
